1. Ask for Website Backlinks

Ask for backlink - Digital Markets Journal

Yes, just ask. To some, this strategy looks very ridiculous and some see this approach as impossible but of all the backlink strategies I’ve used in the past, asking for backlinks remains one of the most effective.

How do you ask for backlinks?

To start with, you need to find websites and/or blogs in your niche with high domain authority and SERPs rank. Then write the webmaster an email asking for a backlink to your website from one or a few of his related articles.

PS: Webmasters almost always link to well-crafted and informative resources from all over the internet and the probability of getting a positive response is high if you have great content.

The key to getting a high response rate is if you have amazing content on your website.

You may use below email template to request for backlinks

2. Start a YouTube Channel

YouTube Backlinks - Digital Markets Journal

With over 1.8 billion monthly active users, YouTube remains the second biggest search engine in the world as of today.

Another very simple and easy way to get high-quality backlinks to your website is to start a YouTube channel, optimize the channel and always add your website URL in your video description.

YouTube is also known to send very high-quality traffic your online resource and links coming from youtube often has a better average time on page.

This can be because anyone coming to your website from YouTube must have found your video very interesting and willing to learn more about your website, product, or services before visiting.

Want free high-quality backlink? YouTube is one of the best tools out there.

3. Ask Web Visitors To Write Testimonials

Write testimonials - Digital Markets Journal

Testimonials are another way to get quality backlinks, especially from your website visitors/users.

To achieve this, you simply need clients and/or website users to write testimonials about your articles, products or service. To get the best use out of this, you might ask your website users to link to some specific link(s) of your website for deep-linking purposes.

4. Write Reviews

website review - digital markets journal

How do you feel when someone writes good things about yourself, your website, product and/or service, good right? Well, you do not need to answer this as this is a rhetorical question.

Everyone like showing off how good they are which is where writing reviews play an important role in getting valuable backlinks.

The first sets of backlinks I got were from writing reviews.

You start by picking some specific websites within your niche or target market(s), then you go on to write comprehensive reviews of the websites, their products and/or service.

The final step is to write a simple email to the webmasters managing the sites to inform them of your reviews and ask if they are willing to link to your pages.

They always link back to you 99.99% of all time.

5. Comment on Top Blogs

comment on blogs - digital markets journal

You probably didn’t know but you can use some commenting hack on top blogs to get free backlinks.

For example, it might be a great idea to comment on Neil Patel, Brian Dean, Search Engine Land and/or other top blogs if you happen to have an SEO or digital marketing blog.

Please note that publishers want helpful and genuine comments and would most likely ban your email/IP address if they find out that you are just pasting your link in the comment section for backlink purposes.

Hence, the way to go about this is to find a related topic to one of the contents on your own blog. The write a helpful comment, by providing more insight into the topic discussed on the blog you’re trying to get a link from and then provide a deed link to the article on your own blog.

6. List your Website in Trustworthy Directories

business listing - digital markets journal

Trustworthy directories are great backlink tools. All you need to do is to find directories within your niche and signup on them.

Shout me loud has a comprehensive list of verified free/paid directories to get free backlinks.

PS: Not all directories are healthy, hence the need to do a domain authority and page rank check before listing your website.

This can be done by using the link explorer tool by Moz.

 7. Discover Competitors Backlinks

Free-Backlink-Checker-Tools-To-Check-Competitors-Backlinks-Digital Markets Journal

Sometimes, getting backlinks to your website can be as simple as carrying out a backlink analysis of your competitor’s website.

Carrying out backlink analysis of your top competitors exposes their backlink sources which you can then leverage on by contacting those blog, directories, or sites for deep links to your own website.

There are a number of amazing tools you can use and my top two are:

  1. SEMRUSH and
  2. Ahrefs

8. Write an Ebook

E-book - Digital Markets Journal

Getting quality backlinks from ebooks is an excellent strategy I’ve used over and over again that has given me amazing results.

For example, my ebook on how to increase your website traffic by more than 500% in 34 days has fetched me hundreds of backlinks since launch.

To start with, you need to come up with a comprehensive ebook/report and add it to your website as a free giveaway.

PS: Add strategic deep links to your website in your ebook and you have yourself amazing backlink strategy that works.

9. Add Newsletter Subscription

E-book - Digital Markets Journal

Email subscription remains the best converting digital marketing strategy there is.

Adding email subscription functionality to your website is a very simple and effective way of building your subscriber list.

The average opening rate of emails stand at 21.8% and the average click-through rate (CTR) is at 2.78%.

PS: There are a number of email automation tools but I strongly recommend MailChimp which is free for the first two thousand (2000) subscribers before you start paying a very small monthly fee.

10. Quora Hacking

Quora Hacking - Digital Markets Journal

Quora is a question-and-answer website where questions are asked, answered, edited, and organized by its community of users in the form of opinions.

Quora users can collaborate by editing questions and suggesting edits to answers that have been submitted by other users.

It’s also a very strong avenue for quality backlinks.

The other thing about Quora is that topics and discussions on the platform are index on search engines.

You can add deep links back to your website from answers to questions on Quora.

11. Reclaim lost links

Websites lose backlinks at all times and it is very likely that you already lost a few of them.

There are a number of tools you can use to find lost links and my top two are highlighted below.

  1. SEMRUSH and
  2. Ahrefs

Find lost links and get in touch with the webmasters of the sites linking back to you to reclaim those links.

12. Contribute on Forums & Discussion Boards

The good thing about forums and discussion boards is that many of them allow you to add a website to your bio.

The goal here is to be active on one or two forums within your niche providing answers to questions and creating new perspectives or providing better ways of getting things done in your perspective.

Building a reputation on forums and discussion board will in no little way to attract some traffic to your website.

13. Get on Twitter

twitter - digital markets journal

Twitter is an online news and social networking service on which users post and interact with messages known as “tweets”.

Just like Quora, tweets also rank pretty fine on Google.

Adding a tweet share button to your web pages is a sure way of getting high-quality backlinks.

The tweeter share button on your website allows your website users to share your website content with their social networking connections.

Furthermore, statistics show visitors from Twitter tend to read and stay longer on your website than referrals from any other social media website.

14. Get Editorial Written About Your Business

editorial - digital markets journal

Online news blog and online media are very good sources of good backlinks. This is because many online news blog/websites have millions of monthly views and getting quality “do follow” links from them is a sure way of ranking on #1 of Google.

An easy way to get backlinks from online news websites is via editorials. Pick a niche-based online new website and get them to write an editorial about you and link to your website.

15. Paid Promotion to Linkable asset

linkable asset - digital markets journal

What is a linkable asset?

A “linkable asset” is a piece of content purposely crafted with the intention of attracting links—usually from other websites in your niche.

Because people rarely link to commercial content, “linkable assets” are almost never product pages or commercial content of any kind.

Craft a linkable content and you have yourself a backlink mine.

16. Launch an Affiliate Program

affiliate marketing - digital markets journal

Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s own marketing efforts.

Creating an affiliate program for your product/service is an easy way to accelerate backlinks to your website from reliable URLs.

With an affiliate program set up the right way, you can get thousands of advertisers to link back to your landing page.

This backlink strategy can be very useful for E-commerce websites.

It’s an easy way to get quality backlinks and referrals to your site.

There are a number of affiliate plugins and engines you can use in setting up affiliate programs for your website today.

17. Try Wikipedia Link Building

wikipedia - digital markets journal

Wikipedia is one of the biggest, oldest and most authoritative websites on the internet which makes Wikipedia backlinks one of the most powerful links on the planet.

A way to get these backlinks is the dead link retrieval.

A Dead link is used to describe a link that is no longer active. Meaning that the content that was once on the other side of the link isn’t there anymore.

You need to find these backlinks and create a content to link to.

  14. Search engines are constantly updating their algorithms for optimization, so it is tough to maintain a SEO and Link Building strategy. Updates like, Google gives more importance to websites which are mobile responsive in search results and it will be penalizing websites that use pop-ups and will penalize by ranking them lower. Some business’ will find it challenging to keep up with these ever-changing Google algorithms. If your website is SEO and Link Building optimized, it will boost your visibility in search engines which in turn will improve your business’s credibility, increase your websites web traffic all of which is an important SEO and Link Building factor. Once you get traffic, Google Analytics helps you track valuable information about your visitors like their location, demographics(age, gender), what browser they are using, keywords used to visit the site, time spent on your website, identify your best and worst performing page, what visitors are most clicking on your site and many other factors. These crucial information helps in building marketing strategies like your target audience, target location. The better you know your customers the better product/service you can provide and get better results in ROI. Search Engine Optimization has become a long time investment for businesses. Content will always be the king, but SEO and Link Building factors play a huge role in improving your business. SEO and Link Building can guarantee you traffic to your website but it can’t guarantee you sales. Initially SEO and Link Building will help in giving you sales but in the long run it is your product and service which you provide to the end customers that matters. It is possible that you website is ranking on first page of Google and still not enough business, so in the end it is the content, product and service that matters.
